Many of our faculty and residents have backgrounds in pre-hospital medical services and continue that
that tradition as partners in the EMS system. Dr. Graham and Dr. Pringle are the medical directors for the Bossier Fire Department and the local air medical service, Life Air Rescue. LSUHSC
providing medical control for the city of Bossier and medical control for all cardiac arrests, refusals and medical consults for the City of Shreveport.
Residents spend 5 weeks working with Shreveport and Bossier EMS administration and in the field with
additional available elective months. There are many opportunities to participate in EMT and paramedic education. EM residents become proficient
at providing medical control for EMS and have the opportunity to serve as assistant medical directors for local EMS organizations.
